So, what’s an Elmer?
In ham radio, an Elmer is a mentor. A person who will help you learn the various skills, procedures, and traditions of amateur radio. Your Elmer might be a family member who is a ham. They might be the neighbor down the street with the big antenna on their roof. They might be a scoutmaster or a teacher. Or, they might be a helpful ham who runs the local ham radio club’s website (that would be me).
The path to becoming a proficient amateur radio operator should be enjoyable and rewarding. That’s the goal here. Let’s get started.
